July garden; A bounty of butterflies, Sipping nectar.
Holly Blue: Celastrina argiolus. Large White: Pieris brassicae.
Meadow Brown: Maniola jurtina. Peacock: Aglais io.
Small Tortoiseshell: Aglais urticae. Small White: Pieris rapae.
Today it is raining, persistently, but yesterday between the showers I recorded all of these butterflies. Surely, a celebration of summer, Earth’s season of plenty.
Ashley
Thank you, Ashley, for your gift of bringing the joy of summer to the fore, despite the rain! Mind you, we are lucky when you think of the Heathway in most of Europe, US, and China.
Joanna
Joanna, so true! We are blessed indeed, however, I have no doubt that the change in climate WILL affect us too. Whilst I celebrate, I am also very aware of the changes that we earthlings will have to face in the next few years. Thank you for your visit and your lovely comment. 💌🦋🙋♂️
You are more than welcome and remember, Ashley, that it is the insects that are going to inherit the Earth.
Joanna
Butterflies always remind me of my mother. Always. 🍃🦋
What a beautiful thought, Gail 🤗🦋🙋♂️
We carry loved ones around with us after they are gone. 🌟✨🦋💫
Summer was describe in just three line…great job, Ashley!
Thank you, Indira for your lovely comment 🦋🙋♂️
The essence of summer – in words and photos 🙏 Thanks for sharing 🐞
Thank you, Friedrich, for your visit and your lovely comment 🦋🙋♂️
Nice hokku and great photos, enhancing your hokku. Hope you have a great remainder of summer.
Hi Edo-san, thank you! Not much summer season left now as we look forward to Lammas! 🦋🙋♂️
¡Me gustan todas!!! Un gran abrazo.
Gracias Bárbara, un fuerte abrazo de vuelta. 🤗🦋
How wonderful! Butterflies have become rare in my urban garden.
Dear Rosaliene, I ensure that my little garden has plenty of flowers that the butterflies and bees like to visit. In pots too! 🤗🦋🙋♂️
Wonderful pictures. Thanks for sharing and happy summer 🍷🙋♂️
In a few of weeks time it will be Lammas and harvest time! A change in the season. Thanks for your visit. Stay cool by the pool! 😎🙋♂️
Beautiful description of the summer, Ashley! We haven’t had much of a summer here in the U.S. with the wildfire smoke, excessive heat, and flash floods. Fingers crossed the weather improves for both of us. 🌸😊
Thank you, Jennifer. I watch the world “news” and the changes in weather and climate are everywhere. Can we all pull together to prevent them? I hope so! Sending you some butterflies 🦋🦋🦋🦋🤗🙋♂️
Sounds so sociable of the winged kind. 🦋🦋🦋🦋🙋♀️
Indeed, Morag! However, the butterflies don’t really mix. So, for us, I’ll say “Slainte Mhath” 🥃🙋♂️
“do dheagh shlainte” 🦋🥃🙋♀️
So beautiful!!! 🦋🌸😍
Thank you for sharing these photos! 🙂
Dear Migy, thank you for your lovely comments! 🦋🤗🌹
Lovely Ashley, you’ve seen more butterflies than I have so far this season.
We’ve been slowly adding plants that attract butterflies and bees. They are such a joy to see in our tiny garden. Thank you, Andrea for your visit 🌹🙋♂️
Wonderful!
Thank you, Bridgette 🌹🙋♂️
Oh, this is indeed a Summer celebration, my friend! How wonderful and how wonderfully completed with your haiku! 👌🔆🦋
Dear Marina, thank you for your lovely comments. When the butterflies are about, our little garden is filled with their quiet fluttering. They bring a peace to my heart and mind. which I want to share as they sip the summer nectar. Hoping you are safe from the fires in your country. 🤗🦋🌹🙋♂️
I can understand exactly how they can bring peace to the heart and mind!
We are fine, thank you, my friend. Supposedly the “heatwave” is from tomorrow for a 2-3 days. To me it’s just normal summer. We get those days 3-4 times every summer but for some reason, this year [even though we’ve had a cool summer till beginning of July!], news bombard us with weather alerts and panic! 🙄
Sending warm wishes [pun intended!] 🤣😉
🔆✨
Lovely to see the butterflies as we’ve had very few this year. I’d never heard of, or seen, a holly blue, so thanks for that photo.🦋
The Holly Blue is tiny, as big as my thumb nail and they are so quick too. Easily missed. Thanks for your comments. Perhaps, if we really do get some heat in the next few weeks you will see more butterflies but just in case 🤗😊 🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋
Wonderful you got such great pictures of your lovely butterflies.
This is a beautiful post, Ashley.
I pressed the wrong button earlier and didn’t finish my comment. 😊
Love your post. ❤️
Dear Ute, I’ve had to slow down when typing as I’m also known to press the wrong button, usually deleting whole pages! Thank you for your lovely comments. 🦋🌹🙋♂️
So short and sweet, Ashley! Butterflies and fireflies were my childhood friends. We are enjoying rains here for the last one month.
Thank you, Kaushal, for your kind words. We have a very small garden but most of the flowers we grow are there to attract the pollinators. We just want to look after them as they help us. 🙏
Wow! I love the idea! Thank you for sharing it. Welcome, Ashley 🙏💐
Such beauty in small places. Well done getting the shots, they never stay still for me!
Thank you! I do know what you mean, they can be difficult, especially when there is a wind as well! 🌹🙋♂️
A celebration for sure, and thanks for sharing it with us! Beautiful!
Thank you, Lisa, for visiting. Wishing you a happy weekend 🙋♂️
Happy Lammas!
Thank you.
Wow! That’s a lot of butterflies! How beautiful. The blue one was my favourite 🥰
Thank you. I don’t have a particular favourite as I love them all but the tiny Holly Blue is special 🙋♂️
How beautiful! In every photo I see a small lovely colorful butterfly. All are beautiful, but I especially like the “peacock eye”, as we call it in Germany, in the last photo.
Ashley, have a nice summerday…🦋🥰 💕
Dear Rosie, thank you for your lovely comments. The Peacock is beautiful; it’s the largest of the butterflies above although my photo doesn’t show that. My favourite is the Holly Blue which is the smallest of all. 💐🙋♂️
