More drawing – week 4

In the previous week I drew some little faces, thinking I might use them for a carving project, however, this week they have turned into something else and I’ve found myself reducing them into minimal drawings!  What’s going on?  I’m not sure, but I’m drawing regularly again for sure, and relying only on whatever comes into my mind.  It’s been good fun.  I’ve introduced a little colour in the last couple of drawings.

There are still a few days to go until the end of the month and the end of the drawing challenge, and as we move very close to another of the Celtic festivals, Samhain (1st November) I will be working on something to post for that day.  I will try to complete the October challenge but let’s see how it goes!

Have a good week.

Ashley

    1. Dear Marina, thank you. It is always good to hear from you especially as I know you have a very busy life. I hope that you are keeping well and still running up and down many steps! 🤗💐🙋‍♂️

    1. Marina, thank you. I usually write short verses with few words so this “drawing every day for a month” has enabled me to see that I can draw with only a few lines. I’m not sure where this will lead me but so far I’m enjoying drawing again. 🤗💐🙋‍♂️

  1. Ashley, it seems like Friedrich’s minimalist art form is getting to you, too 🙂 It’s quite amazing how you’ve been able to express human emotion with just a few strokes. Well done!

    1. Dear Rosaliene, thank you for your kind and positive comments 🙏. I’m hoping that I will be able to keep drawing but I don’t want to stop writing my little verses, hopefully putting the two together. 🤗💐🙋‍♂️

    1. Thank you, Gerhard. In the past when I’ve drawn something, I’ve ended up getting muddled and confused by trying too hard; perhaps, trying to draw someone else’s ideas! Hopefully my minimal approach will see me continuing to draw regularly.

    1. Hi Graham, stopping? I hope not but this week is very busy and I also want to post for Samhain (1st November). The daily drawing may stutter a bit though! Drawing these minimal faces, as I’ve said in an earlier comment, has taught me not to try too hard, to just let it happen and it seems to help! 🙏

  2. Nice drawings, Ash, especially the last one. It reminds me of the macaques that sit in the hot springs during winter. I like it. Keep drawing, my hokku friend, and prepare yourself for the onset of winter, in a few days. But, let’s not rush it…it’s still autumn! Live in the present; that’s all there is.

    1. Thanks, Edo-san. Actually, now that you mention it….a macaque’s red face! 😉 I promise to keep drawing, in fact I’m working on one right now for my Samhain post. 🤔
Keep well my hokku buddy! 🙋‍♂️

    1. Andrea, thank you for your comments. 🤗 You mention progress….and when doing these it felt like I was “on a roll” but of course, I stopped to draw and write for Samhain and now turning back to these faces I’m not sure what is next. Your comment made me think about posting a blank page as the next phase! 😉🤣 Ummh! I’m working on it!

  3. Nice drawings. It’s interesting to find out how few lines a drawing needs. You can really draw characters with few lines! Keep drawing whatever comes to your mind 🙂

    1. Dear Anna, thank you for your comments. Unfortunately, I stopped for a few days and I think I may need to go back a few steps to find that momentum again! Does that make sense? I’m looking at a blank page and saying “yeh, that looks good!” 🤗🤣😉
