My only complaint about this subject on these islands, is that the temperate rainforest can still be found across ALL western edges of these islands. We even have some areas here in Northern Ireland, but they are not included in Guy’s article or his brilliant book!
We have rainforests here, too, in the Pacific Northwest, also endangered, as our entire environment is, by our current “government”. I’m glad to hear the good news that people in England are working to save theirs. (K)
I’ve read about the Pacific Northwest and believe it to be an amazing area. Two books come to mind: Suzanne Simard’s Finding the Mother Tree and Barry Lopez’s ‘Horizon‘. The latter book covers many areas of the world but there is a fascinating section on Cape Foulweather.
I’m afraid I have no faith in our PM. He loves his trips abroad, just like the last Labour PM; globetrotters, they see themselves as solving all the world’s problems from a luxury jet!
