A random verse & video

Saturday afternoon.  The sun was warm and I was trying to read my book but the wind wouldn’t let my mind settle.  In front of me on the dwarf Buddleia was a Small Tortoiseshell butterfly.  Thankfully, I had my mobile phone beside me and I was able to capture a few minutes of action.  Out of this scene came a random verse and my first (probably my only) action movie!

  1. Thank you, Ashley, for the beautiful flowers and your visitor.

PS. Corrinne was from the old post! Shame, she is not in contact but who knows her reasons.

    1. Thank you, Joanna. The dwarf buddleia flowers are a gorgeous colour.
I realised the mistake I’d made when re-reading your blog. Yes, it’s a shame Corinne stopped.
      🌹💓🙋‍♂️

    1. It sure is, Shazza! If I’d continued to film you would have seen it immediately drop to the ground, glad to get off that fairground ride! 🌹🙋‍♂️

  2. I enjoyed your spontaneous hokku, Ashleaf, inspired by the beautiful butterfly clinging on…a nice distraction from your reading. Thanks for the video!

    1. Thank you, Edo-san! Glad you enjoyed it. A first for me but I’m not sure I will capture many more moving pictures unless I stand out in the garden during the thunderstorm that is passing just now! ⛈🌩🙋‍♂️

  3. That’s lovely, my friend! I almost want to get inside the video and make a little nest with my hands to protect it from the wind! Beautiful verse and video.
Happy Sunday and week ahead. 👌🦋🔆

    1. 👐 Dear Marina, that is a lovely thought 🦋 In fact the butterfly flew to the ground, spread its wings out flat. I love butterflies and by planting the right things in the garden they will visit. They are such a delight as is your response 🌹🤗🙋‍♂️

    1. We’ve been on the receiving end of westerly winds and this little butterfly had a difficult time feeding. A lesson in persistence! 🙏 Thank you for your comments.🌹🙋‍♂️

  4. That was charming, Ashley. I may steal your idea! And such a beautifully compact Buddleia. I’ve never seen a dwarf variety before. I did make the mistake of buying a regular one. The guy warned me it made a big bush, very quickly, and how right he was. We had to pull it up, but while it was coming on, we had such a lot of butterflies. I’m off to the garden centre to look for one.

    1. Michael, we bought from a newspaper advertisement. We bought two and they came as 3″ plugs. That was in 2020 (August-I keep garden notes 🙄). The variety is Buzz Velvet Red, but I’m sure there must be others. It is only about 3ft in height. When growing anything, I’m always thinking about pollinators; we must look after them! Good luck at the garden centre! 🤞🙋‍♂️

    1. Hi Jennifer, Thanks for your comments. I’m unsure if I’ll do more videos as it was a random moment and using my mobile! Maybe? We’ll see 🌹🙋‍♂️

  5. Delightful video and verse. Life dancing in the wind. Thank you for sharing. And we’re on the receiving end of those westerly winds too! Today is much calmer so enjoy the heat from the sun…

    1. Thanks, Elaine! Here in Northern Ireland, we are always at the mercy of the weather coming off the Atlantic. Today, the sun shines and the wind has dropped but still rain showers threaten us. 🌹🙋‍♂️

      1. Four seasons in one day! But when the sun is out warming our skin we tend to make the most of it…grab it while we can…

    1. Dear Morag, thank you for visiting. It has been a while and I hope you are settling down well in your new home! The verse video was a first for me and I’m not sure there will be another, but who knows? Hoping you and your family are keeping well. 🙋‍♂️

      1. It’s a pleasure! I have not been posting for about 6 months as I have been very busy settling in and getting on as best possible. We are keeping well and enjoying life immensely!
I like the fact that creativity brings along small surprises and nothing is cast in stone. It’s refreshing to be able to move where the spirit of creativity takes one. Keep well. 🙋‍♀️🌷

    1. Thank you, Bridgette for your lovely comment. Thankfully the winds have dropped, a little, and I can wear my hat with confidence! 🌹🙋‍♂️

    1. Hi Pat, I’m really sorry about that, it would appear that the few videos I did have on YouTube have disappeared. Give me a little time and I’ll see if I can reinstate them. Thanks for highlighting this, otherwise I would not have known. 🤗😊

      1. Thank you, Ashley!
I subscribed to your channel and watched the videos, so lovely! The sounds are so powerful, how the birds sing differently, the dance of the plants… And of course, no butterflies in the recent one, but it felt like they were there, watching from a safe spot, not venturing too far from home 🌿🦋
