The bee,
Steadies herself on the windblown flower;
Sipping nectar.
This photograph shows a shrub that looks like ‘Rose of Sharon’ (Hypericum calycinum) but it is the shrub Hypericum Hidcote, sometimes known colloquially as St. John’s Wort.Β Whatever its correct name, I love it because it has such bright yellow flowers, bringing the sun into the garden (the sun is certainly lacking here these days).
Also, today the wind is blustery and fresh, a reminder that the season has changed.Β Still, I’m hoping for some warm days ahead, especially as we will be heading to the coast for a few days holiday towards the end of the month.

Ashley.
Great haiku and wonderful photos, Ashley! You did a good job ππππΆ

Nowhere near ready to give up summer yet here
I agree, Ruth. I only wish we had a bit more sunshine. ππ
Ashley, yellow flowers sure do brighten one’s garden π Beautiful haiku and close-up photo of the flower and bee.
Dear Rosaliene, thank you for your wonderful comments. This shrub is always covered with bees and hoverflies. An occasional butterfly will also visit (we’ve seen a small increase in the butterfly numbers this month; thank goodness). ππββοΈ
Ashley,
Gorgeous photo of the bee and the St. John’s wort, and the haiku fits perfectly with it. ~Nan
Dear Nan, thank you for your wonderful comments. ππββοΈ

GRAZIE, ANCHE TU. π
It’s called Johanniskraut in german π
Thank you, Gerhard. That’s another one for my garden notebook! You’re determined to teach me your language π and I’m happy to learn although retaining much these days seems to be more difficult! π€π
Hi Ashley,
Wonderful photos and great haiku capturing the moment. I hope the weather holds for your trip to the coast.
Hi Mark, thank you. I know that Rose of Sharon ( ) is a good choice for early autumn haiku and it grows in the garden but just now no flowers! However, Hypericum Hidcote is a close relative. Fingers crossed that the warmer days continue! π€ππββοΈ
Nice haiga, Ashu-sama! Love the hokku with the bee/St. John’s Wort image. We’re getting some actual cool weather for the next few days, which makes it feel like the season that it is…early autumn. If you blink, mid-autumn (the equinox) will be here, but let’s not wish the days away. Let’s try to savor each day in the present. After all, that’s all there is! Hey, to Carol!

Moshi, moshi, Edo-san, thank you for your kind words. Here, in Northern Ireland we have not had much warm weather this year so we are hoping that the temperatures are on the rise, for a while, at least until after we’ve had our short holiday by the sea, although I’m not packing my swimming costume! π€£ππββοΈ
WOW BEL COLPO
Thank you! πββοΈ

Have a fabulous few days away. Cannot beat the coast! I actually accidentally have some Rose Of Sharon at the caravan, it was already there when we got it. Am π glad.
Thank you, Sharon. It’s long overdue! We’re staying on the shores of Strangford Lough, so it’s ‘inner coast’ π I’m sure to post some photos on our return. Keep well. π€πΉπββοΈ
That yellow is delicious. I love the spangles too. (K)
Hi Kerfe! I think the bee thought the same; delicious! Thank you for visiting my blog. π€πΉπββοΈ
Love all your nature shots! πΈ I look forward to your future autumn shots, Ashley! ππ
Thank you, Sunra! I’ve been on a short holiday so late response. π€πββοΈ
