  1. Beautiful haiga, Ashley-san! The winter solstice gives me hope! As we continue our revolution around our star, Sol, each new day will give us a little more sunlight and warmth. Here comes the sun!!! The sun begins a new cycle, so it’s also a New Year!!! So, Happy Winter Solstice and Happy New Year, Ashey-san! Stay warm and keep moving!

  4. Dear Ashley, I like the fascinating photo and the matching thoughtful text.
Yes – I agree with you, the metaphor of “light” is just as complex. Because it stands not only for joy and happiness, but also for knowledge and understanding. When daylight increases again, it becomes a symbol of renewal and hope. It reminds me that after every dark phase in life, the light returns – often in unexpected forms.
I think in this sense, the winter solstice is more than just an astronomical event; it is a call to mindfulness and appreciation of the subtle changes in our lives. It reminds me that even in the darkest of times, light always finds a way – whether through small gestures of kindness or through the pursuit of personal growth.

Ashley, I also wish you a magical Christmas, where you can hear the quiet voices of your dreams every now and then in quiet moments. May the lights on the tree bring hope to your heart and give you peace – not just today, but every day to come. Merry Christmas!

    1. Dear Rosie, 🤗 thank you for your wonderful comment here. The photo is actually one of my drawings (I’m still practicing 🤔😊). The solstice is that moment in mid-winter when the cycle of life gives us all, hope again. Days will be longer, imperceptibly at first, and as you rightly say that even in the darkest of times the light will find a way. I think of air bubbles always rising.
Sending warm and cosy Christmas wishes to you. Ashley, from the Orchard County of Armagh in Northern Ireland. 🤗🍎🍏🍎🍏🤗
