Treasure Trove, Kick-About #129

The latest Kick-About asked that we think about the term “treasure trove”.  Below is my artwork and a poem.

There is a world
out there,
that glows and thrives
without my anguish;
if only I could see
without fear of height or hurt.

There is a world
right here,
that glows and thrives,
a home,
a garden,
filled with light and birdsong.

Our home, our garden,
right here!
Our treasure trove.

  1. I like your images, verbal/and visual. Our precious collections are on every continent, even the poles, at home and in nature.

  2. You have portrayed your precious life through image and poem so well. So nice to be able to express one’s reflection of life creatively. Your idea of what the treasure trove is for you is beautiful 💟🙋

    1. Dear Morag, thank you for your lovely comments. Something in one of your recent posts nudged me towards my artwork here (the refracting crystal, perhaps?) 🤗😊

  3. Love your poem, Ashley! It reflects my own sentiment about my home and garden. In my view, your art work depicts more of the glowing world out there than your own treasure trove.

    1. Thank you, Rosaliene, for your lovely comments. For the last 2 weeks we’ve had dry weather and then some warm sunshine. Today the temperature is around 20c about 68f which finds us under a parasol; today there is little wind so it can be too much for my wife and I. Wishing you a pleasant and peaceful summer. 🤗💐😊

    1. Thank you, dear Ute. This afternoon we’ve just been sitting quietly in our little garden, as it is sunny, around 20c and there is no wind, for a change. Cheers! 🤗🥂😊

  4. Your words radiate a wonderful longing and, at the same time, a deep connection with the world around us. The idea of a luminous, thriving world that exists despite all fears is so inspiring to me. I particularly love the description of your beautiful home and the magnificent garden—it’s a place full of light and birdsong that feels like a treasure trove. Your poetic lines remind me that there is always a place where I can feel safe. Thank you for this loving invitation into your world!

    Thank you, Ashley!

    1. Dear Rosie, thank you for your wonderful comments. You are always welcome here and into our little garden, which means so much to us. We no longer want to be doing too much on these gloriously sunny days, rather it is time for us to stop and think about how much we have! The temperature is around 20c today and with little wind, all I want to do today is relax (tomorrow, we’re off on a day long course of printing, monoprint, and using Japanese Chine Colle (?) which will be a challenge for us). Wishing you a wonderful summer. 🤗🌹😊

  5. Magnificent verse and art, Ashley. There is tenderness and truth in your words, and a message for us all: our treasure lies within, both in ourselves and our earth. It’s a wonderful message to begin my day. Well done, my friend. 😊🌳🌏

  6. Dear Mike, thank you for your wonderful comments. If I can match images and words, it is a great joy, especially regarding our home. Your words, and those of others here, give me great encouragement. Thank you my friend 🤗🙏
