Lammas 2025

Butterflies,
Flitting from flower to flower;
Peace.

The end of July and the beginning of August, is the traditional festival of Lammas, a time of abundance and in the pagan calendar, seen as the beginning of autumn.Β  There are so many flowers in our tiny garden but this Buddleia, a dwarf variety, is a favourite.Β  Known as the butterfly bush or shrub, we can see why it is so called. I didn’t manage to capture on camera the other butterflies in the garden but I am working on a further linked post with some artwork which I shall publish shortly. 🀞🀞

  1. That’s a nice Haiga, Ashleaf-san! Love the butterfly. Look forward to your inked post with your artwork. See you in autumn!

    1. Thank you Edo-san πŸ™‡β€β™‚οΈ I’m hoping to finish the artwork over the weekend. Yes, see ya in autumn. πŸ™

  2. Happy Lammas. It’s interesting that the beginning of August is considered the beginning of fall. My BD is August 4th. I’m glad to know that it is connected to the beginning of fall. πŸ™‚

    Beautiful photo and poem. I’ve been wondering what the butterfly bush looks like…now I know.

  3. This year a a lot mor butterflies around which is so beautiful. I have seen so many different ones in my garden. I love it. It looks great on your Budleias.

    1. More butterflies may be down to your re-arranged garden. In actual fact butterflies over the whole of the UK had a bad year last year and there is a big worry that this year will not be much better. Plant more pollinating flowers for ALL little beasties. πŸ€—πŸ˜Š

    1. Following the seasons in Scotland will be different, even compared to here in Northern Ireland. I’m sure you must be seeing the seasons so differently since your move from the southern hemisphere. πŸ€—πŸ’πŸ˜Š
