International Women’s Day

Today should be a moment of celebration. And in many ways, it is. We celebrate the progress won by those who believed in safety and dignity for all, and the women who are leading countries and communities around the world.

But right now, that progress is under threat. Countries are facing a backlash against women’s rights. Around the world, women’s safety is in crisis; their voices silenced and their lives threatened. One in three women globally will experience physical or sexual violence.

Let’s make this International Women’s Day more than a day in history. Let’s protect what has been gained and keep pushing for progress.

I have copied the above from CARE International UK’ s newsletter received this morning and I will sign their open letter to forward to our UK government.

  1. Thanks for posting this. It saddens me that in 2026 women, people of color, children are still struggling for equality, safety, rights and well being. Here in the US women’s rights are plummeting under a republican party hell bent on getting rid of a woman’s right to vote, put them back under a husband’s control having babies, murdering women through their abortion laws that aren’t even allowing the care some pregnancy crises demand. With a Pedophile President and several cabinet members, department of justice protecting them all it’s just awful. And thats just the US.

It’s time for all beings to be protected, safe, valued, respected and respectful, living in harmony with this beautiful planet.

  2. Thank you for thinking of us wonderful creatures 🙂

And still women still have to fight for rights, equality, safety etc. We have to keep on fighting.
