Another in the Kick-About series of artworks.  Below is a link to Phil Gomm’s website where I and others were challenged with the title Semper Augustus.  Head on over and see what we’ve come up with:

Here is a preview of my own artwork and short verse:

Flowers, tulips,
Always uplifting;
Wonderful.

If you are not familiar with Semper Augustus, below is a link to the Amsterdam Tulip Museum which explains the story:

  1. great work on this Ashley. i really do often wonder why tulips have such a hold on me. try as i might to articulate it, they are just beautiful flowers to behold. again, beautiful work! Mike

  2. Lovely! And an interesting story of how a happy accident changed art, life, and botany.

  3. Beautiful artwork and verse, Ashley. Thanks for sharing the link about the famous tulip. It’s interesting how a virus could inadvertently create a highly prized tulip. Imperfection takes top place.

    1. Thank you Kerfe! Yes, they are cut-outs and if I’d used a “non-stick” glue dot I might have been able to make them move a bit more! Perhaps dancing alongside your dancers! 💃💃🕺 Food for thought, for another artwork? 🤗👍

    1. Dear Ute, thank you. I know you like tulips and wonder if on your visit to the Netherlands, whether you visited the Amsterdam Tulip Museum. Thank you for your wonderful comments! 🤗😊

  4. Thank you, Lisa. That is a very thoughtful comment. In my teens, art was everything then something changed and I went to work…had a career…! So, here I am, late to the party 🥳

    1. Dear Andrea, thank you for your wonderful comments. I might use the technique again as I thought it worked well. I’ve just finished the next K-A and with a short holiday as well, my reply to you is overdue; my apologies. 🤗😊
