Thank you, Ute, for your lovely comments. Bees are difficult to photograph as they just won’t sit still. The trouble I had to capture this one π on my phone! πΉπββοΈ
Nice first-day-of-autumn hokku, Ashleaf and beautiful photo to go with it! This month and the next two constitute autumn, according to the ancient ones. I agree with them. It makes sense for the equinox to be mid-autumn, instead of the first day of autumn. The dates of the equinoxes and solstices don’t change; but the names may. Happy Lughnasadh!
Dear Hokku-brother, I always look forward to hearing from you. I agree about your autumn comments especially since it’s in accordance with the ancient ones! Does that mean I’m ancient too? π Probably! π€£ Stay safe and away from the riverbanks. ππββοΈ
Dear Marina, thank you for your lovely comments. Bees are difficult to capture as they won’t sit still for long π especially as I’ve only got my mobile phone to take pictures! I try to write only seasonal hokku, keeping to the traditional 3 line format but without a syllable count and only writing verses relating to the current season. Challenging but quietly pleasurable. πΉπΉπββοΈ
Challenge seen through beautifully, my friend. πππ
This photo is incredible, Ashley. And I like the way the first 2 lines of your haiku imply haste, but the third line rests on Autumn. Beautiful post, my friend. Have a great Sunday! π
Thank you, Lisa, I really appreciate your comments, they mean a great deal to me! Sunday morning has been a quiet one: a short “power” walk for me whilst my wife tends to the garden (a lot of dead-heading) then, our main meal of the day followed by a quiet afternoon reading. After Joanna’s latest post I may re-read Henry Beston’s “The Outermost House”. What a brilliant book; I would love to visit Cape Cod but time is running out so I might have to find somewhere here instead. πΉπββοΈ
Thank you, Ashley, for the beautiful picture, a reminder of a wonderful time, the harvest.
Joanna
Indeed, Joanna, August is a wonderful month. Here’s hoping the weather allows the farmers to bring the harvest in successfully. πΉπββοΈ
My dear departed mom was born in August, which makes it a wonderful month by itself.
Dear MM, August is surely a great month in which to celebrate her life and the harvest.π
What a beautiful photo Ashley! Happy Lammas/Lughnasa.
Thank you, Katelon and happy Lammas to you. πΉπββοΈ
Thank you for the wonderful photo and words to match, so uplifting π
Thanks for your lovely comments, Marina. Happy August πΉπββοΈ

Sounds like a perfect day, Ashley! π
A time to harvest, sounds good. I am looking forward to autumn. That is when I will arrive in Scotland.
Right now it is very warm and dry, unusual for us northerners! Thanks for visiting, Morag, lovely to hear from you πΉπββοΈ
Yes, I believe there’s going to be another warm week this week. I hope you are well. Always enjoy your posts. ππββοΈ
