On the seashore

With such high temperatures, the best place to be is beside the sea.

where the mountains of mourne sweep down to sea

There’s a line in a Percy French song that goes:

“Where the Mountains of Mourne sweep down to the sea.”

Newcastle, County Down, Northern Ireland.  Enjoy it here!  Or better still, why not visit this glorious part of the Northern Ireland coast.

  1. Thanks for taking me for a walk along the N.I. coast, Fraxinus! As I always say, this is the good thing about Flickr…we can take virtual trips to just about anywhere on Earth. Very nice, Ashleaf!!

    1. Thank you, Edo, I shall upload more to Flickr soon. Unfortunately, I didn’t do any videos this time, but I did get some stunning shots at Castlewellan, just up the road from Newcastle. (Post later).

    1. Dear Joanna, if you’re on Flickr I will post some more photos! However, I might just write another post with photos of other locations nearby. Thank you for visiting my post 🌹💖💝🙋‍♂️

    1. Haha, Katelon, we’re into autumn already! That doesn’t mean we won’t have heat, but we left the summer a few days ago! Thank you 🌹 for your comment 🌹🙋‍♂️

    1. I wish I was back there today as it’s too hot for me! We didn’t think about the higher temperatures when we lived in London and the SE. Maybe it’s an age thing 😂. Have a great weekend enjoying your roses.🌹🙋‍♂️

  2. Hi Ashley, What a wonderful collection of photos! The heat has finally broken over here and it is down to a cool 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Have a great weekend!

    1. Dear Marina, I couldn’t forget your lovely ripple photos! A 35 mile drive and we were there! Wish I could return today as it’s too hot inland (high 20s C). Unfortunately, catch up at home, yes, even when retired! Happy weekend. 🌹🙋‍♂️

      1. Ah, that is quite near! I hope you get to visit often. Unfortunately ‘my’ sea is about 75 mile drive. Not far but not a distance you’d do often. Not with those gas prices! 😱
Happy weekend to you too! 🔆

    1. Hi, thank you for your comment. Newcastle is about 40 miles from home and I love to keep returning there but I need to explore more of our lovely coastline, especially when the sun shines! Have a great weekend 🙋‍♂️

      1. I remember Newcastle, but it has been many years…
…I would need to travel about 400 km to get to the sea. That is a bit far for a quick visit.

    1. Sue, thank you for your comments. The coast is about 40 miles from home but I suppose it’s all relative! On this small island, 40 miles could be a very long way but in your location that’s no distance at all. 😉 Have a great weekend 🌹🙋‍♂️

  3. Lovely, lovely, lovely, Ashley! This is a part of the world I will visit in the future. One of the reasons we love California so much is due to the mountains meeting the shore in many places. Hoping you & your bride are well & enjoying a lovely weekend! 🌞

    1. Dear Lisa, I’m sure that you would love it here but when it’s raining it can be miserable, unless, of course, you like the rain! They say that there’s no “bad” weather, just bad clothing/gear! Lovely to hear from you 🌹🙋‍♂️

    1. Thank you, Susan, for your lovely comment. These days I only use my phone, as I’ve broken/lost too many cameras! Have a great weekend 🌹🙋‍♂️

    1. As always, it is lovely to hear from you. It must have been quite a shock to you, Micah, to relocate to Germany, but I know from your posts that you have settled well there! Enjoy your weekend and more exploring 🌹🙋‍♂️
